INTRODUCTION TO

Fabrics & Care

From traditional weaving techniques to modern textile innovations, fabrics tell the story of craftsmanship and progress. Recognizing these materials helps us understand the true value behind high-end garments.

The Soft Gold of High Asia

Cashmere

Wash cashmere garments with cold water and a mild detergent, preferably by hand. For delicate pieces, occasional dry cleaning is recommended, and stains should be treated immediately with gentle spot cleaning. After washing, lay the garment flat to dry and reshape while damp. Avoid wringing, hanging, or exposing it to direct heat or sunlight to protect the fibers.

Care

Cashmere is collected by gently combing the undercoat of cashmere goats during their natural molting season in spring. This process is done by hand to ensure the finest fibers are selected without harming the animals. The combing is meticulous, taking up to two weeks per goat to carefully extract the softest undercoat fibers.

The Fiber of Royalty Vicuña

Vicuña Wool Excellence

Vicuña garments should be worn with care and reserved for special occasions to preserve their delicate fibers. Avoid contact with sharp accessories, and treat minor stains immediately by gently blotting with a clean, damp cloth. For proper maintenance, vicuña should be professionally dry cleaned only. Choose a trusted cleaner experienced with luxury fabrics and clean only when necessary to protect the natural fibers.

Care

Vicuña fibers measure around 12 microns, making it one of the finest natural fibers in the world. Vicuña wool is extremely rare and exclusive, providing unmatched softness and warmth, ideal for luxurious outerwear and scarves.

The Queen of Textiles Silk

Silk

Silk garments should be washed gently, preferably by hand with cold water and a pH-neutral detergent designed for silk. If using a machine, select a delicate cycle and place the garment in a protective mesh bag. Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric, and treat stains by gently blotting with cold water. To remove wrinkles, steaming is recommended. If ironing is necessary, turn the garment inside out, use the lowest heat setting, and place a protective cloth between the iron and the fabric to preserve silk’s delicate fibers.

Care

Silk is renowned for its luxurious smoothness, shine, and incredible softness. A natural temperature regulator, it keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter, making it perfect for year-round wear. Silk is hypoallergenic and repels dust mites, making it a safe choice for sensitive skin.

Nature's Versatile Fiber Wool

merino Wool

Wool garments should be washed infrequently, as the fibers naturally resist odors. When needed, wash gently in cold or lukewarm water using a detergent designed for wool, avoiding excessive agitation. After washing, reshape the garment and lay it flat to dry. Keep wool away from direct heat or sunlight to preserve its softness and shape.

Care

Sheep wool is naturally breathable, insulating, and moisture-wicking. It provides warmth without adding bulk and retains heat even when wet. Wool's elasticity allows it to resist wrinkles and recover its shape easily.

The Andean Treasure Alpalca

Alpaca Wool

Alpaca wool garments require minimal washing, as the fibers naturally resist odors and stains. For small stains, gently spot clean with cold water and a mild detergent. When deeper cleaning is needed, professional dry cleaning is recommended to maintain the garment’s texture and structure. After washing, gently press out excess water with a towel and lay the garment flat to dry in its natural shape. Avoid hanging, and keep it away from direct sunlight or heat to preserve the fibers and color.

CARE

Alpaca wool is naturally hypoallergenic, as its fibers contain no lanolin, making it suitable for sensitive skin. Known for being warmer than traditional sheep’s wool and exceptionally soft, it offers outstanding comfort and insulation. Its natural properties help repel water and resist odor buildup, enhancing the longevity of each garment. Despite its remarkable softness, alpaca wool is also highly durable, allowing Mandelli pieces to maintain their shape, elegance, and quality over time.
